My Story
Deanna Radulescu’s story is one of resilience, courage, and triumph over adversity. Born the oldest of five in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, she grew up with strong family values but endured significant abuse from her father at an early age. At just 15, determined to protect her younger siblings from similar abuse, Deanna called the police, which led to her and her sister briefly entering foster care. Her father subsequently disappeared and has been absent ever since.
During high school, with her mother pregnant with her youngest brother, Deanna worked two jobs and relied on food pantries to help support her family. After graduation, she faced further challenges, including an abusive relationship that exposed her to sex trafficking, substance abuse, and repeated trauma. The turning point came after a violent abduction by her then-boyfriend, prompting her to take control of her life. She pursued college, sought counseling, and committed herself to healing and personal growth.
In her early twenties, Deanna met a wealthy, influential man who became her husband. Over 17 years, they built five businesses together, with Deanna serving as VP of Key Accounts & Business Operations in their automotive manufacturing company. Her leadership helped secure multi-million-dollar contracts and contributed to the growth and success of their enterprises. During the last 2½ years of her husband’s life, as he battled kidney disease and continued high-risk behaviors, Deanna administered his dialysis while remaining dedicated to the family and the business. He passed away in January 2016, leaving her to start over amidst complex legal battles over business ownership, which she ultimately resolved with a small settlement after 18 months in court.
Following this chapter, Deanna channeled her creativity into fashion, launching her own high-end label. She showcased classic, elegant designs at StyleWeek Rhode Island, was featured in local media, and became a finalist in the Cadillac Design Challenge for Style Chicago. Her final collection, avant-garde pieces highlighting the fight against human trafficking, culminated in a major Chicagoland event with six other designers, marking her farewell to the fashion industry.
From there, Deanna launched the Label Free Podcast, sharing stories of empowerment and inspiring others to live authentically. Recognized as a Marquis Who’s Who in America and most recently named one of the Top 5 Inspiring Leaders of 2025 by Business Leaders Review, she continues to expand her influence with the upcoming Gold Coast City Lifestyle Magazine, celebrating luxury, culture, and the vibrant lifestyle of Chicago’s prestigious Gold Coast neighborhood.
